Slovenská pošta a.s., joint-stock company, whose 100% owner is Slovak republic, is a leading, trusted and reliable provider of modern postal, distribution, financial, logistics, electronic, and third-party services, with emphasis on the domestic market and the offer of new products and comprehensive value-added solutions and high-quality services.
Slovenská pošta has come into existence after a separation of the former Czechoslovakia as an independent entity on 1 January 1993. In 2004, it has been transformed into a joint-stock company. This transformation of Slovenská pošta paved the way for the company to become an economically independent and competitive entity. Slovenská pošta has been financially independent since it was established.
Slovenská pošta is one of the largest employers in Slovakia with more than 11,000 employees (app. 4,500 are delivery staff). Post office network consists of more than 1,400 branches (2.5 post office per 10,000 residents, 2.8 post office per 100 km²).
Slovenská pošta has the most extensive logistics network in Slovakia consisting of 4 Main Processing Centres, 36 Regional Hubs, 63 Regional Nods and 1,642 logistics vehicles.
Slovenská pošta, a. s., spends an average of 8% of annual revenues on investments for the implementation of new technologies in the recent past which has increased efficiency and reduce operational costs in terms of localisation and technologies used. The aim of development activities in the field of logistics and technologies is to ensure effective, modern and flexible technological and logistics base for the provision of traditional as well as innovative postal and commercial services.
About Česká pošta
Česká pošta, s.p. is a state-owned postal company of the Czech Republic, which is managed by the Ministry of the Interior. Its headquarters is in Prague. Česká pošta is a key player in the national letter and parcel market in the Czech Republic. It provides people with important contact points both in large city centres and at remote areas. Česká pošta is also a major partner of many trading companies. It operates a unique network of branches and distribution points with a sophisticated logistics system.
Česká pošta was established on 1 January 1993, on the Dissolution of Czechoslovakia, separated from the Slovak postal service, as well as from Český Telecom. All these organizations had previously been united under the Administration of Posts and Telecommunications but were split following a decision of the Minister of Economy.
Česká pošta is one of the largest employers in the Czech Republic with more than 27,000 employees. The post office network consists of more than 2,900 branches. Česká pošta has the largest logistics network in the Czech Republic consisting of 8 Sorting Hubs, 17 Control Depots, and 44 Depots. Česká pošta delivers to more than 5.5 million addresses and 7,000 delivery points. Česká pošta is also a part of the government’s critical infrastructure.
In 2022, Česká pošta opened an international logistics center for European-wide mail distribution in Mošnov. The capacity of this logistics center can reach up to 1 million shipments per day. The operational area of the logistics terminal is 30,000 m2.
