Joining forces to accelerate La Poste buildings’ energy transition
As part of its decarbonisation strategy with the objective validated by the SBTi to be Net Zero by 2040, La Poste is stepping up actions to reduce its carbon footprint. Its real estate company La Poste Immobilier operates 10,000 buildings representing 6 million m2 and an annual energy consumption of 990 GWh, equivalent to a town of 300,000 inhabitants. Following a European tendering procedure to accelerate the energy transition of its real estate assets La Poste chose the EDF group. The two groups have signed a partnership agreement with the allocation to EDF of a global performance contract for the design and implementation of a large-scale energy works programme. This includes:
- An integrated decarbonisation program instead of “silos” vertical approaches, leading to a long-term plan
- Deployment of energy performance control systems (BMS) on 1,300 sites,
- Renovation of energy systems (replacement of boilers with heat pumps, modernization of lighting systems) and of the building envelope on 500 sites,
- Development of self-consumption with solar power plants on 250 La Poste rooftops and car park canopies with a total photovoltaic capacity of 20 Megawatt-peak by 2028,
- Deployment at La Poste’s sites of electric vehicle charging stations accessible to employees and customers as well as to the general public.
This is an unprecedented and unique initiative in France, the objective of which is to scale up our decarbonisation strategy, with a mass-integrated approach, homogeneous methods, through a dedicated company with strong expertise and management skills.
